Our story will forever remain in down town galleries, no matter how much they want to bully us to become mainstream funky slaves. We vow to stand by our not so bright history and we pledge to embrace all the four corners of our slams open heartily. no matter how much they spend on their urban renewal projections, our story will forever resonate with the forbidden culture of down town cartels .because for some of us that’s where we were conceived and raised. As for our parents their story remains untold and their dreams remains in the under ground mine dumps, that’s just the way it is and things will never be the same , cause we are the new generation filled with uncapped ambitions. We understand the meaning of hope and perseverance even though my papa was a rolling stone and when he died , all he left us was Johannesburg with it’s under ground gems, all this gave me hope to stand up and claim my spot during this era of industrial pop stars and make something out of my life . it’s sad how you all like sad stories of 24 slave’s and all that jazz but still reluctant to dance to your own insecurities as an individual .
As a collective we decided to celebrate the insecurities of living in the city of Gold with our latest series of photographs titled Street Bullies.
we collaborated with like minded, people who once experienced the terror and the joy of walking this street of our complex city. Joburg is famous for it’s one night stand affairs and all that jazz. Since we all know that only the fit survive in the city of gold and it’s an environment manifested with bible freaks who always look away when shit runs on my street, how sad that people only twit and face-book my story with Joburg for prime time ratings, they only come down town to scout for intersextions manu-scripts, they do not care about those street bullies who always Boko_Harama us for no particular reason . #BRING-BACK-OUR-GOLD, to all those street bullies who spill unnecessary blood and all those hypocrite who endorse the harsh realities of down town sectarians in the name of chasing dreams. We call unto you to help us make Joburg a better place to live in. From all of us at Khumbula we pledge to make Joburg a safe place to live in , since it’s the only home we know. Always remember that your story remains with you and only you can change the current scene.
